Neapolitan Friarielli in oil by Fantasia Napoletana are a true specialty of the Campania region, bringing them to the table will amaze your guests with something unique. On every self-respecting Neapolitan table, friarielli make their appearance at least once a week (usually on Sundays), in the period from the end of November to the beginning of March. From the first taste you will feel transported to the warmth of the Neapolitan city, made of laughter, memories and emotions, of those long days at the table shared with the people closest to you.
Since 1992, Fantasia Napoletana has been the point of reference for those who have undertaken a journey of rediscovery of the flavors and smells of the ancient Neapolitan culinary tradition, innovating their habits by bringing to the table that quality that is escaping us. Through the friarielli, a piece of tradition is enclosed in a jar.
This variety of broccoli typical of the Campania region has very ancient origins, but the origin of the name remains uncertain. Some say it comes from frio-grelos, which means winter broccoli, while others from the Neapolitan verb "frijere" (to fry) given their prevalent preparation. Only blanched and immersed in oil, they lend themselves to the most varied preparations. They are widely used not only by Neapolitans or lovers of traditional cuisine, but also by many pizzerias and restaurants, thus managing to satisfy the widespread need to taste the product harvested in its best period, all year round.
